1st North Sutton Scout Group

Jemadar Explorer Unit

Our Explorer unit meets Wednesdays from 19:00 to 20:30 at our headquarters in Benhilton Gardens

We are at the moment a young informal unit running in a style closer to the old venture unit. Although we meet most weeks we reserve some evenings to just get together and "chill".

Looking Back

Summer camp 2008
A short camp this year only 4 days but we managed to squeeze in a trip to Brighton, a low ropes course (like a high ropes course but you are allowed to fall off), something called  "Tunnel adventure" that turned out to be crawling through buried plastic pipes. actually it was more fun than it sounds, grass sledging, indoor climbing wall, Quad biking, archery, laser clay shooting and kayaking.

Friday-Sunday 24-26th November Waterfall Camp

We plan to leave Stayton Rd as early as possible on the Friday and travel down to Dol-y-gear scout camp site in South Wales spend the evening settling in and exploring the hut.
On the Saturday we are hoping to get in a gorge walk and an abseil and if we have time, light and energy then there is a crag behind the hut for climbing or for those wishing a more relaxed evening there is a chance of fishing the local reservoir.

On the Sunday we will pack up then hit the mountains to visit a few more waterfalls then set off for home possibly pausing to walk across the river Severn.

The cost for the weekend will be £35- £40 depending on numbers attending.

Para-gliding
I have tried and failed to put into words our para-gliding experience so the pictures will have to do the talking.

If we decide to go again the next stage is to be tested on landing and if considered competent we would be taught how to release then we really would be flying free.

We did return and most of us passed the test and where allowed to release. It was great.
